Western Connecticut State University Housing and Residence Life is a featured program.
At Western Connecticut State University student-staff for the RA and ARM (Academic Resource Mentor) positions are recruited through many means like recruitment posters, solicitation from faculty & staff, and student-to-student information meetings, and social media especially Facebook.
The position is advertised on the department’s Facebook page. They have paid for targeted advertising on the page to make it more effective.
In addition, email solicitation from faculty and staff, asking them to recommend students for RA and ARM positions, takes place. Emails are personalized to each nominated student who qualifies for the RA or ARM position. They are invited to attend an information meeting and to apply for the position(s).
Recruitment posters are placed throughout campus. These posters invite students to attend information meetings to learn more about the expectations of the positions.
Current staff in RA and ARM positions participate and talk about what they do and why they do it. Often the students are more comfortable asking questions of their peers so WCSU is committed to have current RAs and ARMs to be a part of the recruitment efforts.
