Western Connecticut State University Housing and Residence Life is a featured program.
At Western Connecticut State University the Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA) coordinates the training session for all Hall Councils and affiliated leaders. The training occurs in early October after all the councils are in place. During the training students participate in sessions about leadership, fundamentals of how to run a meeting, how to recruit and retain members, how to put on events, and how to fill out proper forms to make events and funding happen. Usually the training also includes specific time designated to help each officer understand their position better. Respected speakers are invited to share their experiences and to help motivate the residence hall student leaders to have a successful year.
This year some of the training will happen before the training session using technology and black board.
A professional staff member supports and guides IRHA with this leadership training.
