“We strive to develop mature, responsible, caring students who share and experience a common sense of community.” – Student Life/Housing Mission Statement
Lock Haven University (LHU), a very unique university, is in the absolute middle of Pennsylvania, within 4 hours from NYC, Niagara Falls Canada, Pittsburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC. It is nestled in the foothills of mountains and our property runs along the West branch of the Susquehanna River. Lock Haven University offers a small school lifestyle with the academic offerings and resources of a large school. LHU offers 60 undergraduate majors, approximately six graduate programs, and is home to almost 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the United States as well as from six continents. LHUP master programs include: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Sports Medicine; Alternative Education; Physician Assistant; Educational Leadership with Principal Certification; and Teaching and Learning, Early Childhood Concentration, PA Director Credential, and Instructional Technology Concentration.
Lock Haven University houses almost 1800 students in 7 residence halls. LHU offers 3 different housing styles including 5 traditional style residence halls, where the community is built by each RA on their floors, taking pride in each of the areas and then of course the whole building community feeling is felt by each person as they “belong “ to a home. One of the most recent buildings LHU opened is Fairview Suites, which houses over 680 students. The new building offers two different styles of suites, a private two bedroom suite, and a shared one bedroom suite. Campus Village houses 170 upper-class residents in 92 apartments.
The Residence Life structure includes a VP for Student Affairs, a Dean of Students and Dean of Student Development, four 12 Month Residence Life Coordinators (RD with outside assignments i.e. RA training and Selection, RHA), two 10 Month Residence Life Coordinators (RD same as above only 10 month hire), and one 10 month Residence Hall Director. One Graduate Hall Director is hired each year. They run a residence hall and are overseen (supervised) by another professional Student Life Coordinator and the Dean of Students. Please note the staff structure may change over time to better meet the needs of the institution.
