It was the event of the year in my residence hall, and only three people attended.
Incessant knocking on my door at 4 a.m one night during the first few weeks of school awakened me. I stumbled to my door and opened it to find one of my residents with a dazed look on his face.
“Bill, you gotta see this,” he said.
“What is it?” I responded.
“Just come see,” the freshman said.
So down to the lounge we went, and when we arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
A full size deer lie stretched on the couch, as is it was comfortably watching a movie on the lounge television.
Two residents who stumbled across the deer, which had been planted by students from another building, were standing next to the deceased animal.
The scenario seemed so bizarre; I thought I might have still been dreaming. But thoughts of the disaster scene involving a deer from Tommy Boy popped in my head. I went to get my fellow staff member and we called the Police. We then dragged the carcass outside to the grass.
When the police arrived, they could only laugh.
I’ll have to say, it was the strangest incident I have, or probably will, ever document. It will live in out memories as the day we found Bambi on the couch.
