Around Thanksgiving set up to collect cans to give to a food bank for the holiday season. In order to get people to donate, offer to give them an ICE CREAM CONE for 2 cans of food or if they have no cans they can donate a dollar and get ice cream, which you then use to purchase more canned goods. Work with your dining service or a local ice cream establishment to get the ice cream and cones donated, and include them as a sponsor of your program. Set a specific time/s for can collections, collect donations and hand out the ice cream cones. This program is a good way to get your school and residents involved in providing for the poor.
