One night, some RAs were together in one of our rooms with the door open, and we heard some girls knocking at the neighboring residents’ door. After some knocking, one girl went into the kitchen and got a cup of water.
More knocking.
Then she went back and got another cup of water for her friend.
Knocking again.
Then we heard two cups of water being poured.
When confronted about pouring water under a door, the girl explained that she had heard “if you pour water under a door here, it will unlock.”
She didn’t connect the fact that this trick works because the water trips the motion sensors at the exits for the halls- and that it wouldn’t have any effect on a key-lock door. Our honors residents figure this out every year, but apparently, somebody forgot to tell her friends!
